The Artist
Sachika is primarily a landscape painter who works en plein air. In the recent year, her shift has focused more towards understanding the medium of paint to talk about environmental activism. Her recent work is guided by this search, in which understanding and abstracting space through color, tone and line have been her primary focus. She has been trying to portray the relationships humans have with their environment and believes that acts of awareness and mindful seeing can be instigated through art in a way that incites action.
Sachika was born in Ambala, India. She will receive her B.A in Studio Art from Knox College, Galesburg, IL. During her time there she attended an art residency at Mt. Gretna School of Art, along with a pop-up exhibition in New York. Her work was also shown at a group exhibit at the Figge Museum in Davenport along with one at the Civic Art Centre in Galesburg, IL.
